updated 1/2016Fixing Connection Problems
We're running a firewall on our server. Our policy is to deny all IP addresses except for those that we explicitly allow. So I will need to tweak the firewall configuration to allow you to connect in from home. If you try to connect to the server and do not see a "username" prompt in Putty and/or a message box is displayed that reads: "server unexpectedly closed network connection" Please do the following: 1) Make a note of your IP address by going to: whatismyip.com 2) Send me an email with your router's external IP address so I can config it into the system. NOTE: Please do NOT runipconfigor any similar network configuration program to find your IP. These utilities will display the IP address of your PC on your home LAN. That is NOT what I need! Instead, I need the IP address of the external interface of your router. So again, the proper thing to do is to go to: whatismyip.com.
